BLOOD COVENANT (GEN 15)
After they all returned home, YAHUAH appeared to Abram again (this time in a vision), saying “It’s OK Abram, don’t fear Me, I am your protector and shield, and your inheritance from Me is going to be amazing”.
But Abram said “My Master, what’s the point of being blessed if I have no children to inherit it and my only `heir’ is Eliezer my servant?”
But YAHUAH said “Eliezer is not who I’m talking about”, and taking him outside He said “Look up at the skies My son and see all the stars, so many you can’t even count them. That’s how many children you will be the father too. I'm Yahuah who brought you out from your father’s house to give you this great land as an inheritance”.
IT WAS NOT JUST A MATTER OF PASSING ON WEALTH AND LAND HOLDINGS; TO ABRAM AND TO VIRTUALLY ALL HUMANS OF THE KNOWN CIVILIZATIONS OF THAT TIME; THE BELIEF WAS THAT A MAN LIVED ON THROUGH HIS HEIR. NOT SO MUCH A REINCARNATION, AS THAT THE ETHEREAL SUBSTANCE THAT WAS INVISIBLE AND UNKNOWABLE (THAT WHICH MAKES EACH PERSON A UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL), THE LIFE FORCE WHICH CONTAINED THE BLOODLINES OF THAT FAMILY, WAS CARRIED FORWARD THROUGH HUMAN REPRODUCTION. IN SOME MYSTERIOUS, UNDEFINED WAY, THE FUNDAMENTAL NATURE OF THE FATHER LIVED ON IN HIS SON. FOR A MAN TO DIE WITHOUT AN HEIR MEANT AN END TO HIS FAMILY LINE, AND THEREFORE AN END TO HIS OWN HUMAN ESSENCE. FOR A WOMAN TO BE UNABLE TO GIVE A SON TO HER HUSBAND WAS THE MOST SHAMEFUL THING FOR HER; HER PRIMARY REASON FOR EXISTENCE AS A HUMAN FEMALE WAS TO PRODUCE AN HEIR FOR HER HUSBAND. TO FAIL WAS EQUAL TO BEING USELESS. FOR PEOPLE OF ABRAM’S DAY, THERE WAS NO CONCEPT OF DYING AND GOING TO AN AFTERLIFE FOR ETERNITY. A SON WAS ABRAHAM’S ONLY HOPE OF SEEING ALL OF YAHUAH’S PROMISES HAPPEN, AND HE WAS WELL AWARE OF IT.
And Abram trusted in every Word that YAHUAH spoke and (in such an unrepentant world) he found great favor with YAHUAH because of His strong belief. And he said “My Master when will I actually receive these promises? When will you make it official with me?” (ie “when will you make an official blood-covenant promise with Me?”)
And YAHUAH said, “OK go and get me a cow, goat, sheep, dove and pigeon.”
And Abram spent the whole day doing so, cutting all except the birds down the middle and he placed each half of the animal right opposite the other half on the ground, creating a small channel between them to walk through (which was covered with animal blood), setting the scene for how (Abram knew) an official Blood-Covenant (promise) was to be made.
And as the sun was setting YAHUAH put Abram into a very deep, dark sleep, so that he was almost dead. (LIKE WHEN HE CREATED KUAH FROM ADAM'S RIB).
JUST AS ADAM’S “DEATH & RESURRECTION” BROUGHT ABOUT A MARRIAGE SO WOULD ABRAM’S !
And while Abram was out cold, YAHUAH said to Abram “Your descendants will be strangers, and foreigners in a land that’s not theirs, and they will be slaves for 400 years, but after that I Am going to punish that nation and bring all your family out with great wealth and possessions. But you Abram will not see any of this, for you will be long gone, dead and buried at a ripe old age. And after four generations of slavery I will deliver your family and then they’ll return here to this land I‘ve promised you, for the wickedness of the Amorites (LINE OF HAM) here in Canaan must increase and follow it’s course first”.
And as the sun went down and a new day of promise begun, YAHUAH actually passed through all the animal pieces HIMSELF (instead of both parties) as a burning fire and smoking furnace, consummating the promise of this Blood-Covenant as the mediator (and payment) between He and Abram, saying “Today I raise up My Blood-Covenant of Deliverance with you for I have given all this land to the seed of your body Abram, from the River of Egypt to the Euphrates River”.
The translation has altered somewhat since this (1st EDITION) recording, but still easy-to-grasp :-)
