THE DAUGHTERS OF ZELOPHEHAD
One day the daughters of Zelophehad (a descendant of Joseph) fronted up to the Tabernacle (Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah). Their father (Zelophehad) was the son of Hepher, grandson of Gilead, great-grandson of Makir and the great-great-grandson of Manasseh (Joseph’s son). So these women approached Moses, Eleazar the priest, the Tribal Leaders and the entire community at the entrance of the Tabernacle, saying “Our father died in the wilderness. He wasn’t among Korah’s followers, who rebelled against Yahuah though He just died along with all the other oldies from Egypt, because of their disobedience and unbelief. But he had no sons and why should the name of our father fizzle away just because we have no brothers? Please give us some property along with the rest of our relatives.”
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER A CHALLENGING LIFE SITUATION FOR WHICH THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANY CLEARCUT ANSWER IN THE SCRIPTURES? LIFE WITH ALL OF ITS UPS AND DOWNS IS ANYTHING BUT BLACK-AND-WHITE AND PREDICTABLE AND WE SEE THIS RIGHT HERE, WHERE A SITUATION CALLED FOR A RE-APPLICATION OF YAHUSHA’S INSTRUCTION (NOT A `CHANGE OF’ INSTRUCTION, JUST A `RE-WORKING’ OF IT TO ALLOW FOR A UNIQUE SITUATION). THIS IS WHY A PERSONAL INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP THROUGH THE PORTAL IS IMPERATIVE, BECAUSE OTHERS MAY JUDGE, HAVE OPINIONS, COUNCIL YOU A DIFFERENT WAY, OR EVEN DECLARE YOU OUTRIGHT “DISOBEDIENT” AS THOUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE BLACK AND WHITE, HOWEVER (SINCE ALL YAHUSHA’S INSTRUCTIONS ARE PERSONAL BEHAVIOURS) HOW CAN THAT BE? YOUR TRAINING PLAN IS YOURS, BETWEEN YOU AND YAHUSHA, AND A PERSON WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE BEFORE HIM IS A VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED PERSON. NO OUTSIDE COUNCIL IS REQUIRED. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INDEED BLACK AND WHITE, RIGHT AND WRONG, BUT THE BEHAVIOURAL APPLICATIONS IN OUR DAY CAN OFTEN BE FLEXIBLE.
So Moses brought their case to YAHUSHA Who said, “Their request is fair enough, so give them a grant of land along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father. And also give the following instructions to the people of Yisharal: If a man dies and has no son, then give his inheritance to his daughters, and if he has no daughters either, transfer his inheritance to his brothers. If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers and if his father has no brothers, then give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan. This is the legal requirement for the people of Yisharal”.
JOSHUA CHOSEN TO LEAD YISHARAL (NUM.27)
One day YAHUSHA said to Moses, “Climb one of the mountains of Abarim (east of the river) and look out over the land I have given the people of Yisharal. And after you’ve seen it, you will die like your brother, Aaron, for you both lifted yourselves up, threw a hissy-fit and rebelled against My instructions in the wilderness of Zin and when the people of Yisharal rebelled against Me, you failed to demonstrate my set-apartness to them at the waters.” (The waters of Meribah at Kadesh).
Then Moses said to YAHUSHA, “O’ my Master, you are the Alahim who gives breath to all creatures and I’m so sorry. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so Your people won’t be like sheep without a shepherd.”
And YAHUSHA replied, “Take Joshua son of Nun, who has My Spirit in him and present him to Eleazar the priest before the whole community, and publicly `swear him in’ and put him in charge. Lay your hands on him, transferring some of your authority to him, infront of the whole community of Yisharal, so they’ll obey him. And when My direction is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will use the Urim (one of the sacred lots cast before Me), to determine My decision. This is how Joshua and the rest of the community of Yisharal will know what to do.”
So Moses did everything YAHUSHA instructed, presenting Joshua to Eleazar the priest infront of the whole community. Then Moses laid his hands on him and commissioned him to lead the people, just as YAHUSHA has said.
