WATER FROM THE ROCK (EX.17)

And at YAHUSHA’S Instruction, the whole nation of Yisharal left the wilderness of Zin and eventually they camped at Rephidim, but there was no water there for the people to drink, so once again they began bitching and complaining against Moses. “GIVE US WATER TO DRINK!” they demanded.

“SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AND BE QUIET!” Moses replied, “Why are you AT ME all the time and testing Yahuah your Alahim?”

But completely tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. “Why on earth did YOU bring us out of Egypt? Are YOU trying to kill us and our children with thirst?” THEY’RE STILL LOOKING TO A MAN IN UNBELIEF!

Then Moses cried out to YAHUSHA, “What should I do with these hideous relentless people? If this goes on they’ll start picking up rocks to stone me!”

And Yahuah said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people with your stick, the one you used when you struck the waters of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Yisharal to join you and I will stand before you on the rock at Horeb (Sinai). Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out and the people can drink.”

So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on. And Moses named the place Massah (test) and Meribah (arguing) because of the nation of Yisharal’s strife and arguments with Moses and their testing of YAHUSHA by saying, “IS YAHUAH HERE WITH US OR NOT?”

HOW WICKED & DISGUSTING IS THIS MOCKING QUESTION? YAHUSHA SAID HE WAS GOING TO TEST THEM (AND US). ARE THEY PASSING THIS TEST YET? ARE WE? EVERYTHING YISHARAL EXPERIENCED IN THE WILDERNESS AFTER THEIR IMMERSION THROUGH THE WATERS, WE WILL EXPERIENCE AS YAHUSHA TAKES US OUT OF THE WORLD, SEVERING OUR TIES WITH ALL THAT WE KNOW AND LOVE, IN ORDER TO TRAIN US AND REASON WITH US SO THAT WE PLACE OUR FOCUS FIRMLY ON HIM.

YISHARAL DEFEATS THE AMALEKITES

While the people of Yisharal were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them, so Moses instructed his offsider Joshua (Husha) saying, “Choose some men to go out and ght the army of Amalek for us and tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the rod of Yahuah in my hand.”

So Joshua did what Moses had instructed and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Kur climbed to the top of a nearby hill and as long as Moses held up the stick in his hand, the Yisharalites conquered the Amalekites, but whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage in the battle. And Moses’s arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up so Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on and, standing on either side of him they both held his arms up. And his hands held steady until sunset and as a result, Yahusha defeated and conquered the army of Amalek in battle.

After the battle, YAHUSHA instructed Moses, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent remembrance, and read it aloud to Yahusha, that I will erase the memory of Amalek from the earth.”

And Moses built a stone-table (altar) there and named it Yahuah-Nissi (“Yahuah is my banner”) saying, “Because they raised their fist against Yahuah’s throne, He will be at war with Amalek generation after generation.”

THE AMALEKITES ARE THE DESCENDANTS OF ESAU AND CLOSELY RELATED TO YISHARAL, AND OVER TIME BECAME ENEMIES AFTER JACOB DUPED ESAU OUT OF HIS BIRTHRIGHT AND BLESSING AS THE FIRSTBORN SON (AND ALL THE POWER AND WEALTH INVOLVED), SO IT MAKES SENSE FOR THEM TO WANT TO ATTACK YISHARAL. HOWEVER THEY FOCUSED THEIR ATTACK ON THE FEEBLE AND ELDERLY FOLK WHO TRAVELLED AT THE BACK OF THE ASSEMBLY OF YISHARAL, WHICH WAS A CRUEL AND HORRIBLE THING IN YAHUSHA’S EYES, CONSIDERING YISHARAL HAD MADE NO THREATS TOWARDS THEM! MANY MODERN ARABS TODAY ARE DESCENDANTS OF ESAU AND AS WE SEE, THE CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST CONTINUES TO RAGE.
