YISHARAL'S SECOND SENSUS (NUM.26)

After the plague had ended (that killed 25K people) YAHUSHA said to Moses and to Eleazar (son of Aaron the priest), “From the whole community of Yisharal, record the names of all the men twenty years (or older) who are able to go to war.” So there on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River (across from Jericho), Moses and Eleazar issued the instructions to the leaders of Yisharal, and this is the record of all the descendants of Yisharal who came out of Egypt.

Then the YAHUSHA said to Moses, “Divide the land among the tribes, and distribute the grants of land in proportion to the tribes’ populations, as indicated by the number of names on the list. Give the larger tribes more land and the smaller tribes less land in proportion to the size of its population. But you must assign the land by lot, and give land to each tribe according to the number of names on the list".

So these are the results of the registration of the people of Yisharal as conducted by Moses and Eleazar on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River (across from Jericho). Not one person on this list had been among those listed in the previous registration taken by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai because YAHUSHA had said, “They will all die in the wilderness.” And not one of them survived except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

THE TRIBE OF LEVI

This is the record of the Levites who were counted according to their clans: The Gershonite clan, named after their ancestor Gershon. The Kohathite clan, named after their ancestor Kohath. The Merarite clan, named after their ancestor Merari. The Libnites, the Hebronites, the Mahlites, the Mushites, and the Korahites were all subclans of the Levites. Now Kohath was the ancestor of Amram, and Amram’s wife was named Jochebed. She also was a descendant of Levi, born among the Levites in the land of Egypt. Amram and Jochebed became the parents of Aaron, Moses, and their sister, Miriam. To Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. But Nadab and Abihu died when they stuffed around in the Tabernacle, burning strange fire before YAHUSHA.

The men from the Levite clans who were one month old or older numbered 23K. But the Levites were not included in the registration of the rest of the people of Yisharal because they were not given an allotment of land when it was divided among Yisharal.

THERE ARE TWO PRIMARY OBJECTIVES FOR THIS CENSUS. FIRST, IT WILL BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINED HOW MANY ELIGIBLE MEN THERE ARE TO SERVE AS SOLDIERS. AND SECOND, A COUNT WILL ALSO BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF TERRITORY EACH TRIBE SHOULD RECEIVE WHEN THE PROMISED LAND IS DIVIDED UP AMONG THE TRIBES OF YISHARAL. AT THIS POINT, YISHARAL WAS SITUATED ON THE EASTERN BANK OF THE JORDAN RIVER EAST OF JERICHO AND GIVEN THEIR HUGE POPULATION OF 3 MILLION, ANYONE WITHIN 1000KM IN ANY DIRECTION WAS WELL AWARE OF THEIR PRESENCE.

You’ll notice a huge difference between the 1st generation of Yisharal who left Egypt and this 2nd generation. The 1st generation were a bunch who were always groaning, moaning, rebelling and always complaining about how they had it so much better in Egypt. But not so with this 2nd generation. This bunch was filled with much more passionate energy and were much more motivated to take hold of the Promises Yahusha had first given to Abraham over 600 years ago. The older generation died out without ever being able to set foot in the Promised Land and only the 2 who were obedient of the older generation (who remained faithful) were able to make it to the Promised Land. There is a huge lesson here for us today. For those who hold to Yahusha’s promises (through thick and thin), He will be faithful (trustworthy). But those who are disobedient and `unfaithful’ in their behaviour will be destroyed.
