LEVITES APPOINTED (NUM.3)
This is the family-bloodline of Aaron and Moses as it was recorded when YAHUSHA spoke on Mount Sinai. These sons of Aaron were anointed and established to service as priests. But Nadab and Abihu died in YAHUSHA’S presence when they stuffed around on the plonk (drunk?) burning strange-ass incense to what He’d commanded them. And since they’d no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father Aaron.
So YAHUSHA said to Moses, “Call out the tribe of Levi, and present them to Aaron the priest to serve as his assistants and they shall GUARD* his duty and the duty of all the assembly before the Tabernacle, performing their special duties in and around the Tabernacle, maintaining all the furnishings and serving on behalf of Yisharal. And appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out the duties of the priesthood, but remember that ANY UNAUTHORISED PERSON WHO COMES TOO CLOSE TO MY TABERNACLE MUST BE PUT TO DEATH FOR I AM SET-APART. So understand that I’ve chosen the Levites from among Yisharal to serve as substitutes for all the firstborns of Yisharal, so the Levites belong to me (remember all the firstborn males are Mine) for on the day I struck down all the firstborn sons of Egypt, I substituted and set apart for Myself all the firstborns of Yisharal (both people and animals). So they are mine, for I am Yahuah! So record the names of the people in the tribe of Levi by their families and clans. List every male who’s over one month old.”
So Moses listed them, just as YAHUSHA had instructed.
*THE LEVITES WERE TO “KEEP GUARD” AND DO THE “HEAVY WORK” OF THE TABERNACLE, LIKE HUMAN CHERUBIM WHO WERE TO KEEP GUARD AND PROTECT THE GATES LEADING INTO THE SET-APART PLACE OF YAHUSHA’S PORTAL FROM ANY INTRUDERS.
Levi (the third son of Jacob) had three sons, whose names were Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
The Gershonite Clans had 7,500 males and descended from Gershon [named after Libni (THE LIBNITES) and Shimei (THE SHIMEITES) his two descendants] and were assigned the area to the west (behind the tabernacle) for their camp and were responsible to care for the Tabernacle, specifically the special tent, its layers of coverings, curtains, ropes, and all the equipment related to it’s use. (ELIASAPH WAS THEIR LEADER).
The Kohathite Clans had 8,600 males and descended from Kohath [named after Amram (AMRAMITES), Izshar (IZHARITES), Hebron (HEBRONITES), and Uzziel (UZZIELITES) their descendants] and were assigned the area south of the Tabernacle for their camp, being responsible for the care of the Ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the various articles used in the Tabernacle (inner curtain, and all the equipment related to their use). (ELIZAPHAN WAS THEIR LEADER).
The Merarite Clans had 6,200 males and descended from Merari [named after Mahli (MAHLITES) and Mushi (MUSHITES), two of their descendants] and were assigned the area north of the Tabernacle for their camp, being responsible for the care of the frames supporting the Tabernacle, the crossbars, the pillars, the bases, and all the equipment related to their use. (ZURIEL WAS THEIR LEADER).
And Eleazar (Aaron’s son) was to be the head-chief over the leaders of the Levites, guarding and overseeing the duties of the set-apart place. The area in front of the Tabernacle, in the east toward the sunrise, was reserved for the tents of Moses and Aaron (and their sons) who had the final responsibility for the Tabernacle on behalf of the people of Yisharal. Anyone (other than a Levite priest) who went too close to the Tabernacle was put to death. So when Moses and Aaron registered the Levite Clans at YAHUSHA’S request, the total number was 22,000 males. YAHUSHA DID THE ACTUAL COUNTING AND MOSES & AARON REGISTERED THEM.
THE LEVITES WERE TO SERVE AS AN IMPENETRABLE BARRIER BETWEEN THE SET-APART GROUND AND THE COMMON FOLKS OF YISHARAL. THE SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE BEING BROUGHT FORTH HERE IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THERE BEING A MEDIATOR OR AN INTERCESSOR BETWEEN YAHUSHA AND THE COMMON CITIZENS, WHICH OF COURSE YAHUSHA HAS NOW FULFILLED AND BREATHED LIFE INTO BY RESTORING THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID THROUGH HIS OWN BLOOD, ALLOWING DIRECT ACCESS THROUGH THE PORTAL-DOOR OF HIS PRESENCE TO ANYONE FROM ANY TRIBE OR NATION WHO ENGRAFTS INTO YISHARAL THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO HIS BLOOD-COVENANT OF DELIVERANCE.
